WWI book cover illustration

Created this book cover for an independent writer. I had the chance to read the story, a historical/fantasy ish series. Really loved the writing, and he was an awesome client - was very much open to the creative/exploration process of finding the right voice for his vision.
It ended up going away from some of the directions that excited me the most, but this was still a great end product and process in getting there.
